Experience a day in the life of a destination wedding videographer for couples marrying in the UK, Italy, and beyond. This time, we visit Hotel Tenuta di Artimino in Tuscany for the Italy destination wedding of Jonathan and Arielle.
Billed as a taste of paradise in the heart of the famous, picturesque Tuscany region of Italy, Tenuta di Artimino is just 20km outside of Florence. Set amidst gentle rolling hills and verdant valleys, the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Villa La Ferdinanda boasts origins as an ancient estate belonging to the Medici family.
Opulent, grandiose, and set within its own grounds, Tenuta di Artimino is the ideal wedding venue for couples seeking a true Italian wedding in Tuscany.
An Autumn Destination Wedding in Tuscany
I was thrilled to attend this amazing autumn wedding in Tuscany at Tenuta di Artimino, when Marino Made Events contacted me to enquire about my availability. When they asked me to create an elegant wedding video for a couple from Austin, America, I couldn’t wait to film the celebration.
I was especially happy to learn that the wedding was going to be in Tuscany. I knew it would be a different style of wedding, which added to my excitement. Normally, I go to Tuscany as a destination wedding videographer in the summer months, but Jonathan and Arielle were marrying in October. Everyone forgets just how spectacular Italy can be in the autumn, and this was a perfect opportunity to showcase this.
The stage was set, the couple was sensational, and the day started well. I drove from Umbria (one of my two bases in London and Italy) to Tuscany. It is a fabulous drive through country farmhouses and past vineyards. I arrived in a wonderful mood, excited to share Arielle and Jonathan’s big day. I intended to use my drone to get Ariel shots and managed to do so. Although the villa looked gorgeous from the sky, it was a windy day up there.
After landing my poor drone, I took the opportunity to wander around, watching the crew set up, capturing those pre-wedding moments that the bride and groom both miss while readying themselves.

Rainy Day Wedding Videography
The Tenuta de Artimino has a stunning bridal suite, suitably sized for the whole bridal party to get ready in. I took a few shots here, then filmed the couple as they rehearsed their vows before the big moment in front of their loved ones. We then captured their first look in front of the big house, after the end of an emotional morning. We filmed a few shots of the bridal party and of the couple alone, and I could tell that they were very much in love.
The venue staff did a fantastic job of setting everything up for an outdoor ceremony. However, in true European wedding style, it began to rain and became extremely windy which meant we had to relocate inside. The guests were concerned that the bride and groom had travelled all the way from America and longed to marry outside in the traditional Italian countryside. But they didn’t have to, as it turned out to be spectacular and the rain didn’t ruin the wedding!
The wedding quickly (and impressively) moved back outside. It was still drizzling, which provided some fantastic footage and turned out to be a great decision. I have never had a chance to film a wedding through the drizzle before in all my 15 years of shooting weddings.
After the ceremony, the reception proceeded smoothly. The couple had a lovely time dining, enjoying drinks, and sharing their romance with family and friends. The dance floor was tremendous fun, and they left us with the impression that people from Austin sure know how to party.
